  1. do you think kate moss can do this in real life?

  2. She can't, the sculptor admits he made it up. Is that even a real way to get into it? I can't figure it out. The arm would have had to go there after the second leg.. Look at the sideways pic, how far back her second foot is - no way, in real life it presses strongly forward. This statue annoys me.

  3. Hmm interesting ... I have heard a rumour that there was a live model for the pose. Don't know if this true but if it is, the 'asana' looks like an amalgamation of Buddhasana (http://yogachola.de/praxis-inspiration/2002-ashtanga-advanced-a-b/41-Buddhasana.html) and a reversed Dwi-Pada Sirsasana variation. I like to think its possible and can think of a couple of ladies who might be able to pull this off, one of whom may very well have been the live template.

  4. Wikipedia suggests the rumour is correct and I have a fair inkling who the template is, as there are not that many Yoginis in London who could pull this off.

  5. OK, I believe that someone did it... someone who practises every day, unlike Kate!! Are you going to tell us who, Doug?

I do remember reading that there was a live model too. Pretty freaking impressive.

  6. I don't know for certain who and even if I did, they appear to have decided to remain anonymous so it wouldn't be right to name them. But put it this way... that's a combination of 4th Series and 2nd Series ashtanga yoga postures bit of lateral thinking (about London yoginis) and you should arrive at the same two names!

  8. Well, I'm not really up on the London yoga scene, so I probably don't know the person. Looking a little more closely though, wow. So she takes the first leg across nice and deep, takes the second one back, and then chucks the arm on that side over foot #1, cradling it in the elbow and weighting it down with the upper arm, whilst at the same time using that hand to push the second leg further across as she pushes the foot down with the other hand. I'm not close to being able to get my arm back over my foot like that.. and look how far forward she's leaning! Long body?? Amazing.
